I’ve always felt that the South had a pull on me like a whirlpool. The farther I moved from it, the more it pulled me back in. My roots in the South run deep. I was born in Greenville, Mississippi, in the heart of the Delta. My family moved north when I was small. Despite this, we returned south every summer, and sometimes at Christmas. At first, we went by a long car journey, traveling across Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Tennessee…
